Chief Smiley has been in law enforcement since 2001, serving his time with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reaching the rank of Patrol Lieutenant. During his time with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office he served in various roles such as patrol, highway interdiction, high crime areas, and also served on the Drug Enforcement Task Force.
Chief Smiley has an Associates in Criminal Justice from Wayne Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree from Penn State University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Walden University. Chief Smiley has also received his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from The North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Chief Smiley is a current Town of Princeton resident along with his wife and 2 children. Chief Smiley's oldest child is a current student at PENN State and he is super proud of her.
It is the mission of Chief Smiley to oversee a department that is dedicated to improving the quality of life by creating a safe environment for the citizens we serve in the Town of Princeton. In doing so, the Princeton Police Department will act with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence by acting with integrity to reduce crime, create partnerships within the community, and build trust by treating everyone with respect, fairness, and compassion.
